Archetypes are forces of our collective unconscious that are a "universal image" of great emotional power.
- They represent “general” characteristics rather than “specific” ones.
- Common to all humankind, yet each person experiences them in their own unique way.
- Believed to be the foundation of our personality, our drives, beliefs, feelings, motivations, and actions.
Carolyn Myss, Ph.D. teaches that Archetypes have been woven into our psyche and expressed in various forms throughout our history, such as in myths and legends, comic books and Disney characters, and even historical and religious figures.
As an entrepreneur, understanding our Networker archetype helps us communicate and connect on a deeper level.
The Networker is like a beautifully created spider’s web. Spiders are master weavers. They are creative. They symbolize balance and the intricate and subtle fabric of influence.
When we are in the flow with our Networker archetype, we are expanding our sphere of influence. We are connecting with others, forging alliances that help serve and uplift.
Some examples of strong Networker archetypes are:
- Ryan Angelo, of Alpha Influence, teaches us how to develop our Networker by understanding others on a deeper, loving, and genuine level.
- Oprah Winfrey, who has taught us that being genuine and grounded, has a greater appeal than being preachy and fake. She is the girl next door who we were able to watch grow and evolve, while encouraging us to join in on the journey.
The Networker is very apt at being flexible in social situations. They honor the process of “trial and error” as being learning experiences not obstacles.
They have a keen sense of knowing who are potential friends or allies. Networkers learn how to create strategic partnerships, as well as know when it’s best to bless someone, or a situation, and walk away.
You can always spot a master Networker. In my area of the world (Vero Beach ,FL - USA), Sasha ZyBryk, of Sash Speaks Seminars, is a gifted Networker.
Sasha is the one in a group that reaches out to the “wall flowers”. She focuses on, and genuinely enjoys, introducing people to others in the room. Her skills are so tuned in to “who would benefit from meeting whom.” Like the spider, she knows how to link people together.
Mastering our communication skills and learning how to share knowledge, without a hidden agenda, are valuable tools in becoming a master Networker.
Now, the shadow side of the Networker, to me anyway, is obvious.
- It’s when we use our business and personal connections only for personal gain.
- You know, it’s those people who are puking all over you with their “buy me” energy.
- Those people who are not out to build relationships; they are out to “meet their quota.”
The image of the sleazy used car salesman comes to mind. Hum... that’s a good archetypal symbol for the shadow aspect of the Networker.
Be conscious of when your Networker archetype is playing out in the world.
Are you playing nice?
Blessings on your Journey!
